Species recovery requires more than action on the ground. It depends on the policies, legislation, funding and decision-making frameworks that shape how nature is protected and restored. That is why policy and advocacy are a central part of Rethink Nature's work.
We bring together organisations from across the conservation sector to champion the changes needed to enable large-scale species recovery across the UK. By combining practical expertise with a shared voice, we work to influence national policy, improve implementation and ensure that species recovery is embedded across government decision-making.
Our advocacy is rooted in evidence, collaboration and experience. Through engagement with policymakers, government departments, agencies and stakeholders, we highlight opportunities to strengthen species recovery and address barriers that prevent nature from thriving.
This section brings together Rethink Nature's policy outputs, including:
- Position statements
- Consultation responses
- Policy briefings and reports
- Open letters and joint submissions
- Evidence and research resources
Together, these documents reflect our commitment to creating the policy conditions needed for species to recover at scale and for nature to flourish across the UK.
